Pseudo-scientific information is supposed to make conspiracy theories, esoterics, homeopathy and the like appear “scientific”.
Breitbart News is a far-right American news, opinion and commentary website founded in 2007 by conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart. The site has published a number of falsehoods and conspiracy theories, as well as intentionally misleading stories (according to Wikipedia). When it suits their purpose, they do not distinguish carefully between facts and opinions (“alternative facts”) as would be good practice in journalism.
Its former executive chairman Steve Bannon declared the website “the platform for the alt-right” (i.e. “Alternative Right”). In the 2016 election campaign, Breitbart News supported Donald Trump. After D. Trump’s victory, Steve Bannon became White House Chief Strategist. He stayed there until 18 August 2017 and has now returned to Breitbart.
The Schmalbart Network not only challenges the “Breitbart News Network” but all kinds of untruth, distortion and forgery in the media. (The address https://www.schmalbart.de/ is not available anymore from February 25, 2020 on.)
“RT (formerly Russia Today) is a Russian international television network funded by the Russian government, directed to audiences outside of Russia.” RT has been accused of spreading disinformation by news reporters, and has been repeatedly found to have breached rules on impartiality, and of broadcasting “materially misleading” content. The ‘EU versus Disinformation’ campaign: Every Thursday, their Disinformation Review publishes cases of news articles carrying pro-Kremlin disinformation in international media, as well as news and analysis on the topic. Opinions expressed there cannot be considered an official EU position.
